 Wildflower Trails of Mississippi

Three years ago Sarah Kountouris, the Executive Director of Keep Mississippi Beautiful, was fortunate enough begin her dream project to beautify Mississippi with native wildflowers.

A wildflower program was previously active in Mississippi, however, Keep Mississippi Beautiful, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, has begun a new beautification project across the state called the Wildflower Trails of Mississippi.

Not only do the wildflowers provide a gorgeous view of our native flowers, but also aid in ecotourism and bring important pollinators, such as the Monarch butterfly, to Mississippi. The State is starting to lose Monarch butterflies, which are critical for pollination.

Partners for the Wildflower Trails of Mississippi include: The United States Department of Agriculture, Keep Mississippi Beautiful, The Mississippi Association of Conservation Districts, Mississippi State University Extension Services, The Mississippi Soil and Water Conservation Commission, The Mississippi Department of Transportation, The Garden Clubs of Mississippi and The Mississippi Department of Agriculture.

To learn more about the program and get free seeds to start planting your field of wildflowers, please contact Sarah Kountouris, Executive Director of Keep Mississippi Beautiful, at 601.853.4210 or visit www.keepmsbeautiful.com.
